Abstract
Aim: To examine the relationship between visual outcomes and OCT features with number of anti- VEGF injections given over 3-year period in neovascular AMD patients. Method: Hospital based, retrospective study. Patients with neovascular AMD, who received ranibizumab treatment between Jan 2015 and Jan 2020 were evaluated, considering the number of injections, visits, change in BCVA & CMT during 3 years of treatment. The minimal inclusion criteria was a visit at least every 3 months. Results: Electronic medical records of 51 patients were assessed with mean BCVA(0.48) & CMT(360m). The average number of injections received at the end of 1st & 3rd year was 6.33 & 12.27 respectively. Mean CMT was recorded 262 m at the end of 1st year & 19 m at 3rd year. Significant improvement in BCVA was noted only upto end of 1st year. Conclusion: In clinical practice, various contraints lead to much fewer injections being administered with modest visual outcome.
