Abstract
Ocular emergencies are rare in clinical practice but can be potentially vision threatening and sometimes life threatening if thorough evaluation and timely management are not done. A sixty year old female, with no known comorbidities, presented to the Emergency with history of fall in bathroom followed by loss of consciousness. On presentation, there was no significant general examination findings. Blood workup and echocardiography yielded normal results. MRI brain showed acute infarcts in left cerebral hemisphere and left basal ganglia. Patient was managed conservatively and discharged. After 11 days, she again presented to eye clinic with reduced vision in left eye, which on evaluation turned out be due to ophthalmic artery occlusion. Within next year, patient had four episodes of stroke. A repeat ECHO done during the fourth episode showed a large left atrial myxoma. Patient underwent excision of myxoma, which was confirmed histopathologically.
