Abstract
Optic nerve melanocytoma is a benign variant of melanocytic nevus that is present within or adjacent to the optic nerve. Here, we present a case of 45 years old female with diminution of vision in right eye. Visual acuity was 6/24 in right eye and 6/9 in left eye. Intraocular pressure was 15 mm Hg in right eye and 14 m Hg in left eye. Pupils were equally round and reactive to light with relative afferent pupillary defect of grade 3 in right eye. Dilated ophthalmoscopy showed black pigmented lesion around peripapillary region of optic disc with slight extension into nasal retina at 9o’clock with pale optic disc. No significant findings were present in left eye. Optical Coherence Tomography imaging showed the marked thinning of retinal nerve fibre layer in right eye with global value of 48µm and ganglion cell complex of 60µm. The patient was explained about the findings and advised to follow up after 2 months.
