Abstract
A 58 year old female presented with a mass in the medial aspect of left lower eyelid of 3 years duration.On examination a blackish swelling was noted in the medial aspect of left lower eyelid involving lower lacrimal punctum measuring 1.5cm x 1.5cm in size, round in shape, irregular margins, hyper pigmented, soft in consistency,mobile.Lacrimal drainage system was patent on syringing.Surgical excision biopsy using MOHS micrographic surgery technique was performed under local anesthesia sparing lacrimal drainage system. Histopathology report confirmed Basal cell carcinoma – pigmented variant .Patient had uneventful postoperative period and there was no signs of recurrence on follow-up for 1 year.Complete excision of nodular BCC with MOHS micrographic surgery technique is an effective method of treating nodular BCC. All BCC patients are advised to monitor for any recurrence and any new lesions elsewhere in the body.
