Abstract
Purpose : To report clinical features and management of graft – host interface keratitis post Descemets membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK).
Methods : We report a case of 70 year old lady with fuch’s endothelial dystrophy(FECD) who underwent descemets membrane keratoplasty (DMEK) and developed interface interstitial keratitis on post op day 1. Cultures of corneal button revealed gram negative coco-bacilli.
Results : Prompt surgical intervention in the form of removal of descemets membrane and intensive anti bacterial therapy helped in complete cure of infection. DSEK was performed once infection and inflammation settled which yielded good visual outcome for the patient.
Conclusion : Such novel and rare infection of cornea requires high index of suspicion for early diagnosis. With prompt treatment we can achieve good final outcome for the patient.
