Abstract
DESIGN:Cross sectional observational study done on hospital based pts who underwent manual SICS from July2020-21.
MATERIAL&METHODS:Age,Sex,operation notes,detailed clinical examination done using slit lamp biomicroscopy of 1st post op day of 128pts.Surgical technique of wound construction&its relevance to incidence of Post op hyphema on POD 1 was analysed.
RESULT:Out of 128 pts ,,(7.9%) 11pts had hyphema on first post op day.in 3pts(27%) cause was attributed to PREMATURE ENTRY.2pts(18.18%) had DEEP TUNNEL.IRIDODIALYSIS was present in 1pt(9.09%).VIGOROUS I&A in 2pts(18.18%).POOR INSTRUMENTATION in1pt(9.09%).EXTENSION of WOUND was present in 1pt(0.78%).in 1pt hyphema could not attributed to any cause.
CONCLUSION:incidence rate 85/1000 population.training of proper tech of wound construction and proper handling of ophthalmic instruments can avoid this complication.
