Abstract
AIM-To evaluate the efficacy of Topical cyclosporine A 2% eye drops and 1% Prednisolone drops in Herpetic keratitis
MATERIAL & METHODS- Prospective observational study on 40 eyes of 36 patients with HSK visiting tertiary eye centre from Aug 2020 to June 2021.Patients were randomly divided into 2 groups , one group received 2% cyclosporine A and the other 1% Prednisolone. Detailed ophthalmic examination including BCVA, Slit-lamp examination and IOP assessment done at 1st visit and followed up 2 weeks and 2 Months after treatment.All patients received Oral acyclovir 400mg BD.RESULTS- patients receiving Topical cyclosporine A drops had better BCVA than Prednisolone but not statistically significant (p value >0.05)
CONCLUSION-Cyclosporine A & Prednisolone are both effective , however Cyclosporine A may be a better option for long term use in HSK.
