Abstract
Purpose: To describe the morphology of palisades of Vogt (POV) in normal eyes and diseased state.
Methods: The superior and inferior limbal region of 10 normal subjects (5 males and 5 females) was assessed using spectral domain optical coherence tomography(SD-OCT).The superior and inferior limbus was divided into 3 zones and mean palisade ridge height(PRH) of 3 zones was calculated. The mean inter palisade epithelial rete peg distance (IRP) for the above mentioned 3 zones were calculated. The morphological features of 5 limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) patients were studiedResults: The mean PRH for superior zone a,b,c were 80.90,83.90,81 and inferior zone a,b,c were 93.50,82.20,81.70 respectively. The interpalisade distance (IRP) was calculated . The morphological characteristics of patients with LSCD patients was described
Conclusion: In vivo SD OCT imaging is a safe and contactless modality in assessing POV for planning ocular surface reconstruction
