Abstract
Covid infection is presumed to cause plethora of ophthalmic manifestations and now various side effects of the vaccine are coming to light. We present a case of healed RPE epethelitis with inactive CNVM who presented with reduced BCVA & active CNVM immediately after Covid vaccination.
A 25 year old male old case of RPE epithelitis reported for a review after 2 years. He had received one anti-VEGF injection. He remained asymptomatic in the intervening two years. He returned back within one week of Covid vaccination with acute onset blurring of vision in the RE. His BCVA was 6/36 with intraretinal fluid in the macula which was confirmed on OCT.
He was given two injections of anti-VEGF at the gap of one month and the BCVA improved to 6/6 with resolution of fluid.
Although a direct cause and effect relationship is difficult to establish but the sequence of events point towards strong association. Possibility of such adverse event should be borne in mind in high-risk patients.
