Abstract
It is a well-known fact that medical professionals are prone to musculoskeletal disorders with ophthalmologists being particularly at a higher risk, common ones include disabling back pain, neck pain, numbness in the hands and legs, and carpal tunnel syndrome. A routine slit-lamp examination, indirect ophthalmoscopy, or even sitting on a surgeon’s chair can cause devastating effects. Through this video we would like to highlight about common occupational musculoskeletal disorders and how to prevent them, and to develop ergonomic guidelines/standards for ophthalmic equipment and encourage their adoption. By eliminating Awkward postures, intermittent exercises,
and preventing repetitive movements and high force pincer grasp can alleviate the problems.
