Abstract

Steven Johnson Syndrome, a serious disorder of skin and mucous membranes can result in blindness in severe cases. Management of Acute phase aims at preserving the ocular surface. However, once the Chronic stage sets in, surgical options becomes increasingly daunting. Options available for Visual Rehabilitation are challenging and tedious and necessitates a long term commitment from both the patient and the ophthalmologist in the visual recovery process.

Bearing this in mind I hereby would like to present the case of a 29 year old female with 14 year old history of Advanced Steven Johnson syndrome who presented to us with vision of perception of light in both eyes and Keratinization of the entire Ocular surface. She underwent implantation of Keratoprosthesis in the Left eye following which she regained a vision of 6/12.

Adhering to a strict and very vigilant post operative tailormade program, the patient has maintained the same visual acuity over past two years
