Triamcinolone acetonide crystals are an useful adjuvant to help with in induction of Posterior Vitreous Detachment. However in macular hole surgery the Triamcinolone crystals can get lodged inside the macular hole on the RPE. These cryatals can be toxic to RPE and may interfere with the hole closure. To avoid this possibility, we repurposed the brilliant blue G (BBG) stain. In this video we demonstrate the utility of BBG for induction of PVD and hence successfully dodge the need of crystals particularly in macular hole surgery.
