Abstract
A macular hole is a full-thickness defect in the neural retina and causes symptoms from metamorphopsia to the diminution of vision. Management is based upon symptoms and staging of the macular hole with associated retinal findings. The advent of pars plana vitrectomy has improved outcome of macular hole surgery to a greater extent. Post vitrectomy vitreous cavity is filled with agents including silicone oil or gases such as sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and perfluoropropane (C3F8). Internal limiting(ILM) membrane peeling restores the anatomy and contour of the macula. ILM flap technique, ILM abrasion, and many others are modifications in the primary technique of surgery. Here in this video, we demonstrate all surgical techniques and their modification with few tips and tricks for a better outcome in the macular hole.
