Abstract
A 28-year-old patient with total symblepharon following grade 4 chemical injury presented to us one year later for cosmetic disfigurement in the right eye. His vision in the right eye was hand movements. Slitlamp examination revealed total conjunctivalisation of the cornea with complete loss of limbal stem cells. There was no view of the anterior segment; the USG bscan was within normal limits, and UBM was normal. We planned for Symblepharon release, Bilimbal conjunctival limbal allograft, and Gore-tex along with Amniotic membrane grafting. Three months later, the patient had a stable ocular surface with vision improving to 6/24 postoperatively. Goretex, left in place in the ocular surface, takes care of the proliferative phase of the wound healing phase, preventing the recurrence of fibrovascular growth in such conditions.
