Abstract
FLACS has helped burn the bridges in demanding cataract surgeries. A challenge in the fore coming times is cataract surgery in post phakic intraocular lens patients. A young female, 9 years post phakic lens implantation presented with cataractous changes in both eyes. Due to the friability of anterior lens capsule noted in the left eye ,impairing the regularity of capsulorrhexis, right eye was planned for FLACS. The femtosecond laser had to be manually directed to find the accurate planes. Due to unpredictable factors, while pulling the phakic lens, the haptic ripped apart, only to be explanted by enlarging the incision. The phakic lens was removed by hand on hand technique. It was impressive to note that the laser understood our mind and the FLACS went unblemished. The lens was implanted into the bag.
It is truly overjoying to have a tool as femtosecond laser in our armamentarium, that aids to ease out our surgical difficulties for more predictable outcomes in challenging cases.
