Abstract
Nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy (NPDS), is a filtering surgery where the internal wall of Schlemm’s canal is excised, allowing sub-conjunctival filtration without actually entering the anterior chamber. This technique was developed to minimize the complications of trabeculectomy. I am presenting a video of
phacoemulsification-intraocular lens (IOL) implantation-combined with modified NPDS using Sub-flap Mattress Suture in cases of advanced primary open angle glaucoma with visually significant cataract.
Modified NPDS with Sub-flap Mattress Suture appears to be an economic ,effective and safe filtering procedure for lowering IOP and could be an alternative to phaco trabeculectomy in open angle glaucoma with the advantage of having fewer complications
