Masquerade meaning “pretend” is often used for a clinical condition mimicking as another. Ocular Masquerade Syndrome (OMS) is often misdiagnosed as chronic uveitis or pseudo-uveitis. OMS may be tumour related and non tumour related. Diagnosing a malignant masquerade at its early stage is crucial as it can save a patient’s life. The video demonstrates the various presentations of ocular masquerades where a tumour mimics an inflammation and an inflammation mimics a tumour. It also teaches the usual drawbacks during diagnosis and lessons learnt from individual cases. The video also shows that any ophthalmologist in any subspeciality can face a masquerade and when approached by an algorithmic protocol the management may be less challenging.
