Abstract
Zonules still remain largely unseen in regular clinical examination. Though severe zonular loss or weakness can be detected by looking for phakodonesis, subluxation, tilted lens etc, subtle abnormalities are often undetected. These subtle abnormalities may present obstacles during Cataract surgery. In this video the author categorises these abnormalities into anterior zonular weakness and posterior zonular weakness. Each category shows different signs during surgery. Understanding and picking up these signs early may prevent catastrophic events like intraoperative dialysis, vitreous loss, nucleus drops etc.
