Abstract

Intraorbital wooden foreign bodies pose a significant challenge in diagnosis and management . We report a series of wooden intraorbital foreign body cases, their clinical profile and management in a tertiary care hospital. Eighteen cases of wooden intraorbital foreign body in our centre from March 2020 to March 2021 is analysed retospectively. Data was collected from in patient records and OT register. Eight patients presented with features of orbital cellulitis, 2 cases presented with fistula. Eight patients underwent surgery more than once. Seven cases had been misdiagnosed on CT scan as air pocket. Proper exposure and intact removal of foreign body during primary surgery should be the aim.
