Abstract
INTRODUCTION
Hypertensive retinopathy is a vascular complication of hypertension.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
The present study was carried out as a hospital based cross-sectional study. A total of 252 patients were included for the study who were diagnosed with hypertension.
RESULTS:
Serum lipid levels were found to be significantly deranged among the patients with hypertensive retinopathy.
CONCLUSION:
The increase in all the lipid profile parameters were found to be strongly associated with retinopathy in hypertensive patients. Hence, deranged lipid profile in hypertensive patients might play a role in development of retinopathy and so,patients need to be screened for the same ,with the aim of preserving vision.
