Abstract
AIM: Vision impairment are unanticipated tuberculous meningitis consequences that go unnoticed in the early stages of the disease due to the inability to assess vision in patients with low consciousness. We report a case of management of acute loss of vision in post tubercular meningitis in 12yr young girl in tertiary center hospital. Methods: A 12yr young girl presented with both eye acute loss of vision after post TBM with continued antitubercular treatment. Results: Restricted lateral rectus action in both eyes with poor pupillary responses, normal optic discs and visual acuity of hand movements in both eye were observed during ophthalmological examinations. The third and lateral ventricles of the brain enlargement seen on CT scan. Conclusions: Steroids, acetazolamide, fluoroquinolones in place of ethambutol with other ATT were used to treat the patient medically. Both eyes visual acuity returned to 6/12 with neurological improvement within 3month.
