Abstract
Optic nerve sheath meningioma must be differentiated from optic nerve glioma, neurosarcoidosis, optic nerve tuberculoma, infiltrative optic neuropathies, and peri neuritis. As the potential treatment varies according to the diagnosis, it is crucial to perform an accurate, non-invasive investigation when a tissue diagnosis is unavailable. As meningiomas characteristically express somatostatin receptor type 2, we can utilize Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanning with somatostatin receptor ligand tracers such as 68Ga-DOTANOC to distinguish it from other lesions. We present a case of optic nerve sheath meningioma that was confirmed using this diagnostic modality.
