Abstract
Apart from endophthalmitis, there are many posterior segment pathologies such as intraocular lymphoma, tuberculosis, other infectious or masquerading diseases etc, which require ocular tissue sample to reach definite diagnosis. The exact diagnosis of these pathologies is important as targetted treatment can only be done when we reach a conclusive diagnosis. For these posterior segment pathologies, vitreous, subretinal fluid or chorioretinal biopsy can be taken to achieve diagnosis. In this video, we will be describing methods of acquiring these samples in clinical situations. Fine nuances including use of micro incision vitreous surgery, vaccum used, cut rate used, instruments used, laser done or not, various other improvisations, and surgeons vast experience in carrying out these procedures will be shared in this video. Apart from that appropriate sample handling and transport methods will be shown.
