Abstract
Penetrating ocular trauma occurs most commonly in industrial setting & is associated with intraocular foreign body in upto 40% of patients. Immediately after trauma, aim of surgical management is to restore ocular anatomy and remove the IOFB. These patients need close follow up & subsequent surgical treatment to recover vision to the extent possible. In this video we demonstrate a case where the patient had penetrating ocular trauma with a large IOFB while working in an industry, VA of ?PL. In 1st surgery he underwent primary wound closure, scleral tear repair with removal of IOFB. He was noted to have dense vitreous hemorrhage & in 2nd stage he underwent Lensectomy, vitrectomy, silicone oil injection & iris repair. In 3rd stage, SOR with ILM peeling & SFIOL with fibrin glue was performed. He had BCVA of 6/18 post op.The video demonstrates various surgical techniques in 3 stages of surgery. It also underlines importance of persistant effort in salvaging severely traumatized eyes
